white tail deer with new fawn

Today , our 16th anniversary, I woke at 6am, looked out the window and saw fog in the wetlands. I quickly dressed, grabbed both cameras and took off for the wetlands. It was like a magical world, covered in spider webs that looked thousands of lace doilies. A slight breeze made them look like they were swaying in the wind. I looked straight ahead on the boardwalk and there in the fog was the beautiful doe that I had seen the night before and as I had suspected she had a tiny fawn with her. We watched each other for about 10 min. She had no way of knowing that I would never hurt her baby. The birds were singing their morning tunes and the Pilated Woodpecker screeched overhead

as he flew over me in the fog covered skies. A sparrow chirped and tried to coax me away from her nest that I already knew was in the logs by the boardwalk. Everywhere I looked , from the grass to the very tops of the trees , was covered in the beautiful spider webs , some covered with droplets of rain. I heard a lone crow that reminded me of the visit I had from the crows, the day Mom died. The two hours I spent in the wetlands was overwhelmingly happy. I thought that maybe this is what heaven would look like for me and hoped I would have a camera. Then I remembered I wouldn't need one because it would always look this way for me. I thought of how blessed I am that I met a man that loves me for who I am. That he bought this humble piece of land instead of a fancy lake home. That he will never want a fancy place. We are both blessed to have come from humble beginnings and can be satisfied with a simpler, non extravagant life. If you have taken the time to read my thoughts of this wonderful, beautiful God given morning, you will have a look at two of my favorite pictures from this morning. God Bless you all.

  1. Hi,

I work for the company that produces Mutual of Omaha’s aha moment campaign; check out www.mutualofomaha.com/aha to see what an aha moment is and the incredible stories we’ve filmed over the last several years. As I came across your website, I couldn’t help but think that you might have an aha moment to share.

For the 5th year, we’re taking our 34-foot Airstream mobile film studio on the road again for the 2014 Aha Moment Tour, visiting 20 cities across America to capture inspirational, life-changing aha moments from folks all over the country. We are headed to Grand Forks, ND on July 15th and 16th and would love to invite you to share an aha moment, and how your life has changed since. It can be about your work, your family or other life experiences. You would just have to step into the Airstream studio for a few minutes and tell your story on film to our tour producer. Your video will then be posted to www.mutualofomaha.com/aha, where you will be able to share it with your friends and family via email, Facebook and Twitter!

On July 15th and 16th from 10am to 6pm, we will be parked at the North Dakota Museum of Art, 261 Centennial Drive, Grand Forks, ND 58202. The trailer will be parked in parking lot West of the NDMOA, near Gustafson Hall. Here is a map link to the location: https://goo.gl/maps/YXM27

We’d love to have you. Let me know as soon as possible and I can reserve your time slot.

    Many thanks!
